I'm a Peace Corps Volunteer in Timor-leste (East Timor) and this is a collection of stories from my time here. Above that I also have English resources for anyone who would like them in the Short Story Section. If you have anything you think would help future Volunteers or anyone really with becoming closer to Timor make sure to leave a comment!

Lao(s) ba Mota

Hey everyone,

I just got done walking down the river with my family, and it was beautiful. We went to go see the place where my host father work's which is a farm on the side of the river (mota).

It was nice to go out in the afternoon and see the district. It's so hot midday that most people (including me) just like to sit and rest in the shade. It's a great time to practice tetun with the family. 😊

We went to Mass this morning and not only was it strange to go to mass for the first time, but it was also in another language. Lol, it was definitely different, but a great way to let my family know I'm on their side. All in all I'd say today was a great success and I look forward to my community walk tomorrow.

I love and miss you all, and look forward to telling you all the stories I'm slowly accumulating. I'm in good health (for you mum 😉) and I am surrounded by great people, regardless of the language barrier.

Much love,

~BW
